New statistics obtained from the Kiama Wi-Fi network reveal the town is a destination for a wide variety of international visitors, most of whom at some stage use an iPhone to access Facebook.

Kiama Municipal Council activated its new National Broadband Network-enabled public Wi-Fi network in time for the Easter holiday period.
Statistics show that from its launch date through to April 13, 1590 residents and visitors logged on to the free network available in the Kiama CBD.
About 90 per cent of connections to the public Wi-Fi were made by smartphones and 60 per cent of those smart phones were Apple iPhones.
The landing page for the Wi-Fi network is the Kiama Connect website, a community video sharing site, which benefited from 1143 hits.
Kiama Council said the highest download usages were iTunes 17.7 per cent, Google Video 7.1 per cent, Facebook 6.7 per cent and Apple 6.7 per cent.
Overwhelmingly, the highest total usage as far as time spent on a site was for Facebook (nine days in total), Apple (eight days), Google (six days), iTunes (two days), Kiama Connect (45 hours) and Instagram (42 hours).
Of those logging in to the network, 40 per cent were Kiama residents, 21 per cent were from Sydney and 11 per cent from Wollongong.
Approximately 29 per cent were international visitors, including people from the United States, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, Argentina, Chile, Singapore and China.
Kiama Council's general manager Michael Forsyth said the statistics gave the council a good insight into the benefits public Wi-Fi would have for Kiama's tourism industry, local businesses, tourists and residents.
"Kiama Council is always looking for new and innovative ways to attract tourists and provide valuable services for our residents," he said.
