Corrimal spinner Xavier McDevitt picked up two major awards including the top honour of Senior Cricketer of the Year at Illawarra cricket’s presentation night at the Fraternity Club.

McDevitt won the prized Ring Trophy as the competition’s outstanding player in 2014-15, plus picked up the Kevin Smith Memorial Trophy as under 21 Cricketer of the Year, while his 47 wickets earned him the season’s leading wicket-taker.
Corrimal had a terrific season under player-coach Rob Fisher finishing a point behind first grade minor premiers Helensburgh and made the premiership final, plus won their first top grade T20 competition.
The annual presentation night on Friday was attended by officials, supporters and players representing the 10 Illawarra clubs, with many clubs collecting individual honours through the four grades.
Among the major awards winners was Balgownie all-rounder James Fleming honoured with the Joe Waldock Memorial Trophy as first grade Best and Fairest Cricketer of the Year.
Balgownie won the premiership with Fleming having another top season as the Magpies’ front-line spinner and middle-order batsman, plus filled in for Corbin Brown as skipper.
Wests Illawarra’s David Potts was awarded the prestigious George Coulton Trophy as the leading first grade wicket-keeper.
Helensburgh were the outstanding club, finishing first grade minor premiers and T20 finalist, plus second grade premiers, and were honoured with the Club Championship Trophy and Umpires Proficiency Shield.
Former Illawarra rep player and coach Neil Coad was awarded the Norm Warren Shield for Services To Cricket In The Illawarra.
Keira stalwart Nick Theodossiadis won the Administrator’s Award, with John Pemberton and Neale Benson awarded the Life Member Badge.
The top bowlers and batsmen in all four grades were also honoured, along with the premiers in the four grades – Balgownie (first grade), Helensburgh (second grade), Wests Illawarra (third grade), Northern Districts (fourth grade).
The 2015-16 Illawarra season begins in early October.
