The woman’s car was travelling north on the M1 Princes Motorway about 9.35am when it collided with another and overturned.
Police, fire crews and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended.
The driver, aged about 30, was knocked unconscious and taken to Wollongong Hospital otherwise uninjured.
The crash caused lane closures in both directions and lengthy delays.
It was one of many call-outs for the region’s emergency services workers as cars and trucks repeatedly came unstuck on wet, windswept roads.
A second car overturned on one of the motorway’s southbound lanes at Northcliffe Drive about 1.30pm.
It followed a crash on the F6 expressway near Helensburgh about 6.30am, when a car collided with the rear end of a fuel tanker. The driver, a Sydney woman, was transported to Sutherland Hospital with minor injuries.
A queue up to three kilometres long formed on the M1 Princes Motorway at Figtree after a truck jack-knifed on the southbound Masters Road off ramp.
The truck got into trouble about 8.10am.
The driver was uninjured, however traffic banked up as he awaited towing and queues remained long after the truck was removed.
Paramedics and NSW Fire and Rescue personnel were also called to Macquarie Pass, where a B-double truck left the road and went over an embankment about 11.20am.
The truck was precariously balanced on a number of trees.
It took emergency services workers more than 2 hours to right the truck using heavy towing equipment and fully reopen the road.
Police were also called to a number of less serious accidents across the region.
Macquarie Pass was closed to traffic about 8.15 last night after a boulder and a tree fell across the road.
