William Lewis and John Walker's award-winning birds led the way at the Sydney Royal Easter Show - now the colourful feathered variety will take flight closer to home.
And it will be a sea of colour in Bulli this Saturday when more than 700 colourful birds including canaries, finches and parrots take flight.
Breeders from all around the state will also venture out to Bulli PCYC for the Wollongong & District Aviculture Society's 66th annual bird show.
Society president John Walker said once judging was completed, the April 25 show would be open to the public free of charge from noon to 3pm.
Mr Walker said the event would feature more than 700 birds on display, with exhibitors coming from all over the state.
"This year we will have two feature breeds - Neophema parrot and the Gloster canary," Mr Walker said.
"The idea of the feature breeds is to raise the interest of these two types of birds and encourage exhibitors to show against strong competition."
The show comes hot on the heels of a very successful Royal Easter Show for members of The Wollongong and District Aviculture Society, who came away with a bag full of trophies.
Mr Walker managed to bring home two winners, as did fellow society member Bill Lewis.
Club secretary Brad Kerr won the champion Gloster canary and Peter McGibbon had the Res champion finch, while the society's youngest member Damian Kerr also won his junior division.
