Carlton defender Chris Yarran has been given a three-game ban by the AFL tribunal for punching Essendon opponent Paul Chapman in the head.

Yarran pleaded guilty to the striking charge, which was referred directly to the tribunal by the league's match review panel.
The 24-year-old, who was fronting the tribunal for the first time in his 108-game career, will miss clashes with St Kilda, Collingwood and Brisbane.
The tribunal's jury didn't take long to deliberate on the penalty after a one-hour hearing.
The Blue was referred directly to the tribunal for his vicious hit on Chapman during Saturday's match at the MCG.
Tribunal chairman David Jones had told the jury, comprised of Wayne Henwood, Richard Loveridge and Daniel Harford, that it was up to them what weight they put on Yarran's good record and any provocation from Chapman.
The AFL's counsel Jeff Gleeson had advocated for a five-game suspension.
