And in the 1990s, it was the home of fashion designer Peter Morrissey and his then partner, celebrity hairdresser Joh Bailey.
Now Stanwell Park's famous round house, a modern cliff-top home overlooking the ocean, is on the market for the first time in 11 years.
The groovy glass home at 68 Lower Coast Road, with its circular internal courtyard, was designed in the 1970s by Jim Sayer. All the walls are curved.
Each room surrounds a central paved area with internal garden. It is all glass and steel and only a section of frosted glass offers privacy in the shower.
There are two large bathrooms with heated marble floors and three main bedrooms.
Set in a unique position, there are 360-degree views from the house, with floor-to-ceiling glass in the living and entertaining areas and even in the bathroom and laundry.
It is currently listed with Rowan Impey, of Ray White Helensburgh, the sales agent who was also responsible for selling it to the current owner in 2004 for $2.21 million.
Mr Impey said the home had endless ocean views and had been used as a weekender.
"It was designed to be an indoor-outdoor entertaining home," Mr Impey said.
"It's very unique and certainly a one-off and I'm sure we are bound to get a huge amount of interest in it."
Mr Impey said the house was so private you could drive past it and not realise it was there.
"It's the most southern property in Stanwell Park and it's completely private," Mr Impey said.
He said no one could ever obstruct the home's views or build behind it.
Mr Impey would not speculate on the possible sales price of the home, which sold well above its reserve at the 2004 auction.
"We really don't know where it is going to sit in today's market," he said.
"It's a completely unique home set on 1195 square metres so it's got huge potential as far as further ability to expand on the property."
The round house will go to auction on Saturday, May 16, at 1.30pm.
Last week a property in the same street - No 49 - was sold for $3.69 million by Ray White Helensburgh. That was the highest price on record for a residential Stanwell Park home.
In 2013 a three-bedroom home at 39 Lower Coast Road was sold for $3.17 million.
