The IAS had athletes take part in golf, hockey, netball and triathlon, with the Regional Academies of Sport Incorporated establishing the Academy Games in 2005 to promote the talent of elite athletes in NSW.
There were many top performances by the IAS, with the golf team highlighted by Sarah Johnson winning the two-round girls' competition, carding a combined 158 net.
Cassidy Graham (160 net) was third, and Jackson Hall also carded an impressive 81 in his second round and 159 net overall to be the academy's top-placed male, finishing 12th.
Six academies from across the state battled it out in a fierce hockey competition and, though the IAS Southern Phone Hockey squad were without a number of players due to the NSW team touring Japan, they still were very competitive.
The boys had a great 4-1 win over Western Sydney and, though they lost four games, three were by two goals or less. The girls played particularly well and lost just one game.
After the competition, a merit team from the competing academies was selected. Illawarra's Jasmine Riley-Whitworth and Patrick Everett made the squad.
Meanwhile, the games' netball comp featured two divisions for the first time.
The IAS netball squad was the big improver of 2015. The division 1 team won five of their six games on day one, before on day two having a draw against the powerhouse South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWS) and a loss against another of the top teams, Sydney Netball Academy (SNA). The girls then beat Southern Sports Academy (SSA) and Northern Inland Academy (NIAS) to complete a great tournament.
Many of the division 2 Illawarra team were playing in their biggest carnival and after a good win over North Coast Academy, they had narrow losses to the strong Central Coast Academy and Western Sydney Academy.
They won two more games on the first day and, after starting the second day with losses to SWS, SNA and SSA, they beat NIAS.
Following the event, the most valued player in each academy team and division was named with Laura Davenport (Division 1) and Karlia Cook (Division 2) taking out the Illawarra awards.
Athletes from eight academies took part in the triathlon event.
The IAS's Croudson siblings Toby and Tayla competed up an age group and finished third in the junior boys and girls respectively.
