Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad today released a computer-generated image of a man they want to speak to in relation to the assault.
The 13-year-old girl was walking along Gipps Street, Gwynneville in early May, near the intersection of Eastern Street, when she was forced into a van, police said.
The girl told police she was driven to a secluded location and sexually assaulted. She was later dropped off near Robsons Road, Wollongong.
The man was described as being in his mid 30s and of Caucasian appearance with tanned skin, short dark hair and a small goatee beard.
He was wearing an olive green T-shirt and dark denim jeans.
The van was white with black writing on the side, with no windows on the front or back, and tinted front windows.
