Wests Illawarra are now in a position to apply for entry into the Illawarra Premier League after winning the promotion play-off series against Woonona 2-1 on aggregate.
Woonona went into the second leg of the two-game series at Wetherall Park on Tuesday night with a 1-0 lead after winning the first match last Friday night.
The Red Devils won the second match 2-0, Kolan Al Mhde's winning goal coming three minutes from the end of extra time.
At the completion of regular time Wests led the game 1-0 after Josh Perrizolo scored midway through the second half to level the overall series 1-1.
The Sharkies were the better side and created the best chances and most opportunities while Wests rode their luck at times and defended well, although the woodwork saved them on a few occasions and goalkeeper Brendan Jovanovski was outstanding with his saves.
The Devils did not have many opportunities but made the most of the chances that presented themselves.
Wests captain David Kiss led the side well and Stephen Cosgrove had a terrific game in midfield. For Woonona, Tim Parker continued his good form up front.
Both sides now have to regroup because they are both involved in District League quarter finals this Saturday.
