South Coast product and Hockeyroos star Casey Sablowski is confident she can overcome a troublesome left knee and make it to Belgium next month to help Australia qualify for next year's Olympic Games.
The Hockeyroos are due to take on Poland in the World League semi finals on June 21.
The tournament doubles as a qualifier for Rio 2016 and Sablowski, who was made stand-in captain of the national women's team last year, is eager to line up for Australia in Belgium.
She was forced to return home to the Perth hockey base a fortnight ago when her left knee began swelling mysteriously.
The injury interrupted her club season in Holland, but it was ultimately Hockey Australia's medical staff who insisted she get the knee seen to.
"I've had ongoing issues with my right knee throughout my career - cartilage damage and some wear and tear," Sablowski said.
"Since about January I've had some issues with my left knee.
"I don't remember ever hurting it but from January onwards it's been a bit niggly.
"It's different in my right knee, that's damage around the knee cap...this one's on the femur.
"The good thing is it's not meniscus so it's just a matter of resting it, getting the swelling down which I've been really focused on the last couple of weeks."
Sablowski hopes to resume full training within the coming fortnight.
Her next club game in Holland is May 17, which she will most likely miss, but she hopes to fly back overseas for a May 30 match.
Coincidentally, fellow Illawarra product Kieran Govers was on the same flight home to Perth as Sablowski.
The pair were injured on the same weekend and both were ordered to fly home to Australia for rehabilitation.
