"Dying right now. MUM I MADE IT," Holtznagel wrote on Instagram, announcing the feat.
"Cannot even deal right now. First billboard. GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!"
Guess boss Paul Marciano discovered the blonde Australia's Next Top Model (ANTM) contestant through Instagram last year and she has since moved to Los Angeles.
Back in Corrimal, Holtznagel's mother Margaret receives daily telephone updates of a glamorous new life of events, photo shoots and travel.
Mrs Holtznagel said her daughter's resilience had allowed her to make more than most of the ANTM springboard.
"I never doubted she'd make it," Mrs Holtznagel said.
"Nothing was going to stand in her way. She might get knocked down but she gets back up again."
Holtznagel and fellow contestant Madeline Huett considered themselves "adopted daughters" to show judge Charlotte Dawson, and were devastated by her suicide in February last year.
Holtznagel had also had to contend with "pretty awful" cyberbullying relating to her time on the show.
"When Charlotte passed away, Simone was only 19-20. People forget how young she was," Mrs Holtznagel said.
"She's had things people don't know about ... she was bullied. They said she didn't deserve to be there and she was ugly.
"She's plodded away, it wasn't an overnight success. She's worked really hard."
Mrs Holtznagel considers the billboard the biggest "made it" moment yet for her middle daughter, who has also won campaigns for Cotton On, Bras and Things, Review and a recent cover for Men's Style magazine.
"[The billboard] is massive," Mrs Holtznagel said. "I told her you'll have to get a big ladder and climb up and sign it!"
