Selection trial it may be, but regional pride will be on the line when the South Coast Group 7 Bulls lock horns with Group 6 in Saturday’s annual representative battle at Moss Vale.

Group Seven have won the past two matches against their traditional rivals, including last year’s hard-fought 24-22 victory at Centenary Field.
Players are vying for spots in the Greater Southern Region team that will contest the NSW Country Championships.
‘‘There’s a bit of history between Group 7 and Group 6 and they’re both pretty proud areas when it comes to rugby league,’’ Group 7 coach Peter Hooper said.
‘‘Obviously players from both teams are keen to grab a place in the Greater Southern side, but it’s definitely also about bragging rights. Both teams always go at it pretty hard and this year will be no different.’’
Group 7 have lost players from last year’s winning team, though the majority have returned.
‘‘It looks good,’’ Bulls captain Aaron Henry said.
‘‘We’ve still got the same [number] nine, seven, six and one, so we’ve kept the core blokes there. There’s a few new blokes in there which is exciting, and hopefully they can put their best foot forward. Steve Brandon at five-eighth brings that explosiveness and a bit of unpredictability ... it should be good.’’
While the Bulls are aiming for a third straight victory, Group 6 are hungry to turn the tables.
‘‘We’ve had it the last few years so it’d be nice to keep bragging rights over them,’’ Henry said.
‘‘They’ve got a few ex-NRL players in there like Bryce Gibbs and Ray Cashmere, so we expect a very hard game. They’re a big side and they’ll look to come through the middle early and test us out.’’
Henry hasn’t reached his use-by date yet, but says 2015 might be his final rep campaign.
‘‘It’s slowly getting closer to the end,’’ the 30-year-old said.
‘‘It might be the last year but we’ll see how we go and see how the body holds up.’’
