A 67-year-old man has been charged with indecency after repeatedly asking a 14-year-old girl to get into his car while she was walking to school on Marrickville Road on Monday.

The girl was walking to school about 10.30am when a man driving a black station wagon slowed down beside her and sounded his horn, according to police. He allegedly blew her kisses and repeatedly asked her to get into his car.
The girl took down his registration number and then ran down Marrickville Road and into her school. A teacher then contacted local police, who came to the school to speak to the student.
The registration number led police to a man in Maroubra, who they arrested and charged with an act of indecency.
The man was given conditional bail and will appear at the Downing Centre local court in on June 3.
