A huge performance from NBL player Ben Allen couldn't prevent the Canberra Gunners from succumbing to Bendigo Braves 93-88 in their South-East Australian Basketball League clash at Belconnen on Saturday night.

Allen shot 8-11 from the field in his 28 point, 11 rebound, five assist display, but the Braves held on despite a 30-22 final term from the hosts.
Daniel Joyce contributed 13 points and eight assists for Canberra, while import Nnaebuka Anyaorah racked up 17 points. Tony Lewis (26 points, 14 rebounds) and Grant Johnson (28 points) led the way for the Braves.
The Gunners are now fifth in the highly competitive east division with a 4-5 record. In the women's division, Canberra Capitals Academy sorely missed go-to player Stephanie Talbot in two losses in their Tasmania road double header.
With Talbot heading on a European tour with the Australian Opals, Canberra only suited up seven players in an 80-60 loss to Hobart on Friday, before falling to Launceston 89-52 on Saturday night.
