A total of 19 teams of four players picked up their putters from second-year TAFE Illawarra students for the 7th Annual Charity Golf Event at The Links Golf Course, Shell Cove.
The students develop and manage the event each year to gain practical experience as part of their joint TAFE Illawarra and University of Wollongong bachelor of commerce (event management) studies.
As part of the project, the students give themselves a name. This year it was True Events, and in the true caring spirit of the event, they donate all proceeds to the Leukaemia Foundation's Angels at Work.
Among the businesses that supported the event were IMB Better Value Banking and UOW Faculty of Business.
The University of Wollongong had the winning team followed by Destination Wollongong, ZOT Corporate Golf, Print Media, the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant, ACEIT, IMB, Whiddon Group and Leisure Coast Marine.
Leukaemia Foundation regional manager Nina Field and Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management head teacher Natalie Zelinsky said the students under the direction of TAFE teacher Georgina Davies had done a fantastic job running the event.
