The Thunder are coming off a disappointing 16.14 (110) to 6.10 (46) loss to Uni of NSW/Eastern Suburbs after the previous week beating East Coast Eagles at home to post their first win in the competition.
The Thunder joined the Sydney AFL elite under-19s competition this year after the Wollongong Lions returned to the South Coast AFL Seniors after not fielding a 19s team in Sydney last year.
Backed by AFL South Coast, officials hope the return of an AFL side in Sydney will lead to a senior team also joining the competition as early as next year. The Thunder have one of the youngest squads in the under-19s competition and are on a learning curve having lost three of their four games.
Heading into last weekend's clash, South Coast and the Bulldogs both had one win, but the Thunder were outplayed and will be looking for a better effort against the Dragons on Saturday.
The Thunder lost by eight goals to St George in their round-two clash at Olds Park five weeks ago, however with the match back at North Dalton Park, South Coast will be looking for an improved performance.
Thunder coach Dave Forst is expecting inconsistency from his young side but they lifted strongly against East Coast and he is hoping they can rise to the occasion in front of their home fans.
Saturday's clash will start at 10am.
The Wollongong Saints, who also play in the Sydney AFL Division 1 women's competition, have the bye.
The Saints have won one of their three games this season.
