The Dapto Little Athletics Club junior was representing NSW and backed up a fine effort in the 1500 metres to finish second in the 1500m walk - improving his personal best time by a massive 20 seconds.
Thirteen-year-old Jake was among a team of 22 for NSW at the most prestigious Little Athletics event in Australia.
The national championships are for athletes who star at regional and state level and attract the cream of talent in track and field.
Jake is in his 10th year of Little Athletics and finished a fine 12th in the 1500m after bettering his best time by 10 seconds.
Later in the day, Jake again took to the track in the 1500m walk and claimed the silver medal in his best performance in a major competition.
Race walking is a highly technical event requiring great technique, with a 20km and 50km event part of the Olympic Games program.
Although it is a foot race, race walking is different from running, with one foot required to appear to be in contact with the ground at all times.
Jake's silver medal effort capped a great season for the Dapto Little Athletics Club star after he claimed a bronze medal in the NSW Little Athletics State Championships at Sydney Olympic Park in March.
Jake's family and the Dapto Little Athletics Centre were elated with the teenager's performance against the best competitors in Australia.
