The project at Worrowing Heights would provide the Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin area with high quality motel-style accommodation and ancillary services unique to the area, according to Shoalhaven mayor Joanna Gash.
“The Bay and Basin area does not currently cater to large groups seeking high quality accommodation and recreational facilities despite being one of the most visited areas in NSW,” Cr Gash said.
“Council considered the potential impacts this development may have on adjoining property owners and have implemented a number of conditions to minimise these.
“While I sympathise with the neighbours of the development, the proposed motel provides a form of accommodation that this area desperately needs if we are to continue growing the local economy.”
Cr Gash said the development is among the many changes in the area that includes the new Vincentia Shopping Centre project.
