Laurie Daley and Mal Meninga have selected the players they believe can get the job done, and now it's time to put it all into practice.
This has got to be the best time of the year.
It's like Christmas for us rugby league fanatics.
Grand finals, Test matches . . . nothing quite has the same atmosphere as State of Origin.
And from the squads selected it looks like we will have an absolute belter of a game to kick off the series.
Daley has gone with quite a large bench and I believe that could be the difference between the teams and key to a possible Blues victory.
We saw when the Kiwis beat the Kangaroos a few weeks ago just how important size is in rugby league.
Even if the NRL is trying to steer the game towards favouring the smaller men, there will always be a place for a couple of 100-plus kilogram monsters in every team.
New Zealand's pack just rolled right over Australia's and the Kiwi backs were able to score tries on the back of that.
That's what Laurie will be aiming to do on Wednesday at ANZ Stadium.
Boyd Cordner, David Klemmer and Andrew Fifita are all big guys coming off NSW's bench.
Cordner is the lightest of the lot, but Klemmer is a giant at two metres tall and 120-kilograms of intent.
Trent Merrin isn't the biggest footballer around but he has proven his worth in past Origin series, and he now has a Test cap under his belt as well.
You could argue a case for Merrin to start at lock but Josh Jackson is just as capable of filling the role.
Then there's the starting pack - Aaron Woods, James Tamou, Beau Scott and Ryan Hoffman.
Some serious firepower in that group.
Big games like Origin are often won by the forwards, rather than the halves or backs.
Having said that, Mitchell Pearce and Trent Hodkinson will need to gel quickly to do the best job for NSW.
Some people are already bagging Pearce before a ball is kicked.
Get a grip, please.
Pearce is a premiership winner, a champion player in a champion team.
This NSW may see a bit of a changing of the guard too.
No Paul Gallen, Anthony Watmough or Luke Lewis.
Gallen would probably have been chosen if fit, but if the Blues put in a big performance and roll Queensland easily next week it may be hard for Laurie to make too many changes for game two.
Sadly Watmough and Lewis may have played their last games for the state.
They have been terrific servants for a number of years, but it's time to pass the baton.
People love finding anything to complain about.
Honestly, I sometimes wonder why some rugby league fans even follow the game.
They only seem to do it so they can complain about this or that, taking digs at the NRL with something different each and every week.
I've got a message for you all - don't worry about ANZ Stadium selling out next week's opening State of Origin game.
I understand there were 20,000 unsold tickets earlier this week but that was nine days out from kick-off.
If there's still 20,000 empty seats on Wednesday night then you might have a reason to write to Dave Smith.
But stop jumping the gun and taking pot shots at people making the decisions for no good reason.
