Lake Illawarra command officers searched a Compton Street property at about 6.30pm, and found a hydroponic cannabis set-up in the garden shed.
They seized two cannabis plants and an amount of cannabis head from the shed.
A 37-year-old man will be charged with cultivation, supply and possession of a prohibited drug, with a court date still to be determined.
The marijuana discovery is the second of its kind in the Illawarra in the past week, after Wollongong police were called to a rental property on Finlayson Street on Tuesday night.
They found harvested cannabis leaf and hydroponic equipment in two rooms of the Wollongong house.
It is not known if the two incidents are related.
