Stand-in coach Rob Berkin refused to blame fatigue after Wollongong Olympic's 1-1 draw with Shell Cove on Sunday.
Backing up 24 hours after their impressive 3-0 win over Cringila Lions, Olympic couldn't repeat that polished display against the only winless club in the competition.
They were forced to come from behind at Barrack Heights Sportsground after Tommy Markovski had Cove in front 20 minutes in.
He fired a long-range half volley which took a deflection and wrong-footed Hayden Durose in the Olympic goal.
It took only 15 minutes for Olympic to draw level when Nick Nils-Goran slotted home from inside the 18-yard box.
The attacker had two goals the day before against the Lions but wasn't able to find a second on Sunday despite a couple of chances.
It meant Olympic took only four points from a possible six across the weekend.
"[On Saturday] we took our chances. In the second half [on Sunday] we probably had two or three gilt-edged chances where we probably could have got something out of the game," said Berkin, standing in for regular boss John Cropper.
"We were probably better on our completions on Saturday too but that is the way the ball bounces sometimes."
Olympic played against 10 men for the final 10 minutes after Vasko Mitkovski was sent off for a foul which may have earned him only a yellow on another day. They weren't able to capitalise in his absence.
Asked if fatigue played a part in the second match, Berkin said: "I don't think it was tired legs. I think it was application more than anything else. Tiredness wasn't a factor."
An offside flag shattered Olympic's hopes of stealing a late winner in stoppage time.
Cove weren't without opportunities in the final stages and Ile Kostovski drew a fine save from Durose.
"Chances went both ways but they were a little bit more clinical in their finishing," Cove coach Robert Mihailov said. "We scrapped a few goals that we should have put away. They have some quality players upfront - their No 10 [Nils-Goran] was a very good player who got one chance and put it away."
The point was Cove's second of the season. They still have games up their sleeve, including Saturday's match with Dapto-Dandaloo Fury which had to be postponed because of a heavy pitch.
"We will keep pushing forward. I think we are moving in the right direction," Mihailov said. "We are playing good football, we just need to get the results. I am happy with the football we are playing at the moment, it is just a matter of converting that into points."
In Friday night's game, Ben McDonald scored four times as Bulli continued their scoring spree in a 6-0 defeat of Woonona at Balls Paddock.
The result comes a week after the defending premiers hammered the previously undefeated Fury 5-1 at Dandaloo Sports Ground.
On Saturday, Albion Park scored a gritty 1-0 win over Tarrawanna, while in Sunday's other match South Coast United picked up their first win - 2-0 over Port Kembla - in nearly two months. Ricky Bertakis opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Tatsuki Sakamoto sealed the match in the second half.
Wollongong United's home fixture against Bellambi was also postponed.
