When he found out Arnold Schwarzenegger would be in Sydney in early June for the premier of his new Terminator movie Dan Murphy saw it as the perfect opportunity to try to get him to visit Aventus Health and Fitness to see a large scale mural of the movie star.
Mr Murphy wasted no time creating a video and posting it on the Aventus Facebook page.
Within hours it received over 100 shares and reached over 13,000 people.
Anyone interested in supporting the campaign can check it out at facebook.com/AventusHealthandfitness/videos
"I am trying everything I possibly can to spread the word to share the video for people to contact whoever they can and to also post to Arnold on social media to try and get his attention," Mr Murphy said.
"The more that we can do the better the chance of having this awesome achievement of bringing Arnold to the Illawarra!"
Mr Murphy is open to ideas from anyone who thinks they might be able to help him fulfil his goal. It will be the second time he has attracted the attention of a major international star if he does.
Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also graces the Warrawong gym's wall and when he saw pictures on Twitter was blown away by the mural of both him and Arnie.
The artwork was done by Melbourne's Mark "Meataxe" Taylor shortly after Mr Murphy acquired the gym in February 2104.
The larger-than-life images of both actors took two weeks to complete and has been a popular talking point ever since.
Mr Murphy said he wanted them to be prominent because they were such great inspirations.
He has met The Rock as a result of the mural and if he can ever get him or Arnie to Wollongong he will be over the moon.
"I am trying to get the word out as much as possible," he said.
