Nick Austin is CEO of Divvy, a website where people can rent out their driveway, garage or car space on a weekly or monthly basis.
After starting in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane CBDs, Divvy launched in Wollongong on March 4.
On Thursday, the Mercury reported there appeared to be just two customers renting their space in the entire Illawarra - one in Wollongong and another in Coniston.
Mr Austin said he was surprised at the low numbers and admitted he had expected to have around 100 spaces for rent at this stage. "We're a lot lower," he said.
"From what I'd read in the press around Wollongong, there were some serious parking concerns. My expectation was the community would be right behind a solution that would help them alleviate the problem."
Despite the poor response to date, Mr Austin said there were no plans for Divvy to leave Wollongong.
