Councillors met behind closed doors on Thursday night for more than two hours to consider ‘‘the possible divestment of Lamerton House, Lot 3000 and part of Benson Basin’’.
The sale of Lamerton House and Lot 3000 form part of the funding model for the $57million Shellharbour City Hub project.
At the end of the meeting, councillors resolved to ‘‘receive and note’’ the report from council officers, with a councillor briefing to be held next Wednesday on the proposed sales.
While the contents of what was said at the meeting was confidential, Shellharbour councillor Peter Moran said the outcome indicated the majority of councillors had a problem with processes and potential outcomes. ‘‘The City Hub is in limbo until this is sorted,’’ Cr Moran said.
‘‘The sale of part of Benson Basin has never been the subject of community consultation.’’
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the councillors resolved to hold a briefing within seven days.
‘‘[The outcome] means councillors want more information before they make a decision about the sale of Lamerton House,’’ Cr Saliba said.
‘‘When it comes to the City Hub, we are still waiting on the Joint Regional Planning Panel to meet again and for the council’s contractor ADCO to give a final construction price.’’
The council will have 60 days to decide if it will accept the quote.
