The park will host the SES Disaster Rescue Competition, with seven teams from across NSW competing in a series of challenges to find the state's most competent SES squad.
A team of six from Kiama will represent the Illawarra, but home ground advantage doesn't mean much in this contest.
"We don't know what sort of scenarios they'll be working on. The people setting up will be thinking up something challenging," SES Illawarra community engagement co-ordinator Andrew McCullough said.
"They will be using the rides though, potentially a chairlift exercise or rescuing someone stuck on a waterslide."
After winning through the Illawarra and South Coast division recently, competing in the national competition several years ago, and knowing the terrain well, the Kiama team's confidence will be high.
However, Mr McCullough said the event was more about meeting fellow SES teams and keeping rescue skills sharp.
"It's an opportunity to improve those skills, a real test for volunteers," he said. "We can also demonstrate the breadth of our skills to the public."
The public is welcome to attend the competition, which starts at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, volunteers will demonstrate a road crash rescue. Winners will be announced on Sunday.
