About 9.50pm on Friday emergency services were called to the property at Badgerys Creek following reports a man had suffered a gunshot wound.
"Initial investigations suggest the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, suffered an accidentally self-inflicted gunshot wound to the stomach while chasing dogs off his property," police said in a statement.
He was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with an injury that's not considered life-threatening.
