Warilla must have been hoping the pennant State Finals are this weekend not in August after demolishing their opponents in the Illawarra playoffs.

Warilla clinched a third straight Zone 16 flag and sixth title in eight years with a 71-25 victory over Figgy Bowlo in Sunday's final, following a 69-33 win over Wiseman Park in the major semi-final the previous weekend.
In the Zone 16 decider, Warilla's world No. 1 recruit Alex Marshall and partners beat Steve Green 24-6, world champion Jeremy Henry beat former Scottish international Graeme Archer 22-10, and Aaron Teys completed the clean-sweep, skipping his rink to a 25-9 win over Greg Thurling.
Warilla have clearly the best squad in Illawarra Grade 1 but their dominance suggested they're a different class to the rest of the competition.
The Gorillas lost only one game in the nine-round comp with Teys and Marshall's rinks losing just once all season.
Marshall lost his opening match but thereafter has lived up to the hype and his amazing play in the semi-final win over Wiseman Park was of a standard rarely hardly matched in Illawarra bowls.
The challenge for Warilla is now to convert their superiority at a zone level into winning the State flag.
The nine-week break between the Illawarra finals and the three-day State Finals on August 1-3 must be of some concern, given all teams in the seven grades of finals effectively have to re-start their season for one weekend of play.
Warilla have been left frustrated by one below-par performance in the past two State Finals after being dealt one of the toughest draws.
Top Sydney club Taren Point - who boast former Illawarra star John Green - have knocked out Warilla the past two years, including beating them in the first sectional round match last year.
The good news for Warilla is this year they won't face Taren Point unless both clubs make the championship decider.
Albion Park and Dapto Citizens bowling clubs are co-hosting this year's Grade 1 finals, with Citos hosting the flag decider on Monday August 3.
Warilla will play at the familiar surrounds of Dapto Citizens in section 2 and face Merrylands (Zone 10) in round one, then Wagga Rules (Zone 8) in round 2 and finally Inverell East (Zone 3) in round three.
If Warilla win their section they would likely face Zone 12 powerhouse St Johns Park in the semi-finals.
Taren Point overcame Grandviews for the Zone 13 title and now face arch-rivals Belrose (Zone 9) in a tough section four at Albion Park BC.
Ettalong Memorial (Zone 15) look the early team to beat in section 3, though not all zone finalists have been determined.
Meanwhile, Illawarra Grade 2 champion Warilla play their state finals at Cabramatta, while Grade 3 champion Towradgi Park head to Warners Park for their finals.
Zone 16 Grade 4 champions Dapto Citizens head west to Leeton Soldiers BC for their State Finals, with Citos, also the Grade 5 champions, and off to Dubbo Railway for the sectional round of their championship playoffs.
Illawarra Grade 6 champions Windang play their State Finals at Northmead BC, while Jamberoo chase the Grade 7 flag at Orange City.
