New Wolves coach Jacob Timpano hopes to use the remainder of the season to continue building a steady platform for the coming years after being thrust into the South Coast hot-seat on Friday.
The former South Coast skipper was named as Nahuel Arrarte's replacement for the remainder of the 2015 season, less than 48 hours after the former boss resigned.
Arrarte quit his post citing 'internal and external factors that won't allow the current coaching structure to work to the best of their ability' on Wednesday evening.
He also felt he did not have the full support of the board.
His departure forced the Wolves to install their third coach in the past 18-months.
At 29, Timpano admits the role arrived sooner than planned.
"It was a bit unexpected. I had the qualifications with the licence and with me not playing because of my ankle I looked it as an opportunity. I looked it as an experience going forward," he said.
Timpano - who was contracted to Dapto-Dandaloo in 2015 before an ankle injury ruled him out - is uncertain if he will continue in charge beyond the end of this season.
He has 10 games remaining in the campaign to make his presence felt at the club where he spent more than five years as a player.
South Coast are ninth on the competition ladder and are in a safer position than previous years on the Club Championship heading into the back half of the season.
"Personally, I am not looking further than the next 10 games," Timpano said.
"Hopefully we can lift the atmosphere around the place and the culture. To be honest, I don't have many expectations.
"It is a team I have inherited and they have only won a couple of games during the season and pre-season, so it obviously down a little bit in spirit.
"If we can pick that up and get a few results with a favourable run in, we can set a bit of a platform for whoever may be there next season."
Timpano will bring in his own coaching staff after Arrarte's assistant Jason Spencer and under-20s coach Osvaldo Riva also resigned.
Former players Dez Giraldi and Alfredo Esteves will be the new assistant coaches.
The coaching staff will take charge of the club ahead of South Coast's away trip against ladder leaders Blacktown City on Sunday.
"We had the option of taking over from Monday but, speaking to the boys, we thought we might as well get in for the training on Friday night," Timpano said.
"Obviously I know a lot of the boys. I don't know some of them and neither do Dez and Alfredo, so it will be good to get started from there."
