His opponent, Wayne Newby, had even worse luck and mechanical problems meant he couldn't overcome McClenathan's flaming machine.
In the final McClenathan reached a speed of just over 227kmh, a far cry from the 490kmh he reached in his semi-final win over Damien Harris.
After the firey victory, McClenathan's official Facebook page reported it felt "great to win"
"The guys did a great job and I have a trophy to match the Sydney trophy from 2012 ... Hell yeah," he said.
McClenathan also asked his fans to "keep positive thoughts and prayers for Phil Lamattina to make a full recovery also" after the latter's spectacular crash earlier in the Winternationals.
