Their form has fluctuated throughout the first round of the season, but Warilla aim to shift their campaign into overdrive in the run to the finals.
Grand finalists last year, the Gorillas kicked off this season with just one win from six games.
The low point came three weeks ago when they were thrashed 66-4 in a grand final rematch with title holders Nowra-Bomaderry.
Embarrassed by their inept performance against the Jets, the Gorillas responded with a 70-0 rout of Milton-Ulladulla and backed it up with last week's 25-12 away win over Albion Park-Oak Flats.
On Sunday they will find out if their resurgence is just fool's gold when they host competition co-leaders Shellharbour.
"Gerringong and Shellharbour have been flying along pretty convincingly all season. We've had a good couple of weeks and this week will give us a good measure of where we're at," Warilla coach Peter Hooper said.
"We didn't put our best foot forward when we played Shellharbour last time, so I expect we will this time."
The Gorillas lost several key players in the off-season, but Hooper is reluctant to use the 'R' word.
"I don't really like to talk about a rebuild," he said.
"We just have to be aware of how everyone plays and what our strengths are.
"The boys are complementing one another and we're starting to do the little one percenters, and that's contributing to the way we've turned it around.
"At this time of year we've still got our destiny in our own hands and we can control what happens to us."
Gerringong's game against Berry has been postponed, while Milton-Ulladulla play Nowra-Bomaderry on Sunday at Mollymook Oval.
Saturday's meeting between Kiama and Jamberoo has also been called off due to wet weather.
Albion Park-Oak Flats host Port Kembla in Saturday's other game at 4pm.
