And he doesn't just do it at work.
In 2014 Mr Thatcher launched Ables Nightclub as a new monthly event for people of all abilities to get together and have fun.
The idea came to him when he thought about the last time he had seen a person with a disability out dancing at a nightclub.
Mr Thatcher could not work out when that was and when he asked other people the same question, nor could they.
So he decided to provide a safe and enjoyable place for people with disabilities to dance, meet other people and enjoy themselves.
It has been running in different venues each month for the past 10 months and he is about to introduce something new which will make it an even better experience, particularly for those with little or no hearing.
"Starting this event in the Illawarra has been a great success and we have had some great feedback," Mr Thatcher said.
Last week the June Ables event was Hollywood-themed and held at The Ivory in Wollongong and the month before at The Grand Hotel.
On Friday, July 10 it returns to The Grand but will be introducing something new.
The Ables night in July will host the first visit to the Illawarra of the Vibratronic Dance Floor, previously used at sensory nights at Home Night Club in Sydney for the deaf and blind.
The move to bring the Vibratronic Dance Floor to Wollongong was supported by The Grand owner Lu Ristov.
And the two men want more members of the community to come along to this free event.
"'Everyone is welcome and invited," Mr Thatcher said.
"People of all abilities, friends, parents, carers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles - anyone and everyone!"
