In an emotional morning on air i98FM listeners woke up on Friday to news that the much loved radio host is leaving the top-rating breakfast show she has hosted with Marty Haynes for seven years.
She agonised over what to do all week and only made the final decision in the last couple of days.
Among the key reasons she decided to leave breakfast radio is to focus on IVF and trying to have a baby.
Dye informed her co-host Marty Haynes mid week and then told listeners at 7am Friday.
She said the move would also allow her to pursue her bucket list and do some things she has always wanted to do but had put off until now.
But she said she was not intending to leave Wollongong because she loved living in the seaside city.
Dye will do some more morning television now she will have more availability and has a few projects coming up that excite her.
Listeners have a chance to say goodbye to her personally at the Bulli Foragers Market where she has a stall this Sunday from 9am.
She said she had loved every minute at i98 and interacting with all the listeners, the community and the i98FM team.
Dye said she had loved getting involved in the community on many levels and talking about and raising awareness about many great causes and important issues.
“I’m making, what for me, is the rare and courageous move of facing my fears of future regrets, head on. The downside is it means I’ve made the tough decision to leave the comfort of my beloved #1 breakfast show on the Illawarra’s i98FM.
''There are still many important 'bucket list' things I really want to take a shot at in my career and life,'' Dye said.
''Some opportunities to do those things have popped up. So, as much as I've loved every minute at i98, all the listeners, all of the community work we get to be involved in, and the whole wonderful team at i98 - I know in my heart that it's now or never.
"I want to take the plunge now and chase those opportunities while I still can.''
i98FM content director Lachlan Kitchen described her as one of Australia’s finest radio talents and had been a career highlight to work with her.
''For many people working in radio, her work inspired them to enter radio,'' he said.
''I’d personally like to thank Bianca for all her work at i98 over the past seven years. Her immense talent on-air and efforts off-air through her tireless work with charities in our community, has left an indelible mark.''
