During an emotional morning, she revealed her decision at 7am.

What many did not know was she had only made up her mind 48 hours earlier and she had only been able to tell her co-host Marty Haynes what she was doing on Thursday.

Dye said there were several reasons behind her decision and one was to focus on IVF and give herself the best chance of having a baby.

‘‘It was hard,’’ she said. ‘‘I cried but I knew I would. It was really difficult making the announcement...but I am glad I did because I wanted to say a proper farewell to the people of the Illawarra.

‘‘The listeners are amazing and I have made some incredible friendships.’’

Dye is not leaving Wollongong  and will be doing some more morning television. She also has an opportunity to go global by doing an international radio show online from early 2016. 

‘‘I will be interviewing people who are doing amazing things in this world,’’ she said.

‘‘It is never easy to leave a job like this. I am excited and I am scared but it’s great.’’

From Saturday she plans to sleep in without the 4.30am alarm.

‘‘I want to concentrate on IVF and relax.

‘‘I can do radio for the rest of my life but my biological clock is ticking.

‘‘There will always be room for radio. I love being real and honest. And I love sharing people’s stories. And I would like to do that more.’’

Haynes said he understood Dye’s  decision and wanted the best for her.

‘‘Bianca has got a huge future,’’ he said. 

She reminds me of Lucille Ball. She is very quick witted and very talented.’’

Haynes said he had no idea who i98FM would replace Dye with but emphasised he would be staying. 

‘‘I love what I do and I love working for this company.

‘‘They have been a great support in all my ventures such as Convoy. I have had the opportunity to go to other places but I love living here – I want to stay.’’
