Gail Page, 51, is the oldest contestant on the latest series of the hit reality show and said she couldn't stop giggling inside after the blind auditions - especially after bombing out in series one.

The mother of two, who recently relocated to a desert town in South Australia, sang Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin, much to the delight of Delta Goodrem, the Madden brothers and Ricky Martin.

"I was really moved by some of the things they said to me. I feel like I've been given some really special moments," she said.

"Ricky said ... he wanted to meet me on a cultural level and that was the thing that got me. My Aboriginal bloodline and this Latino man that seems to understand what that is. I had no choice, I was going with Ricky."

Ms Page said her coach could not have been more encouraging and "was everything off set as he was on set", while her Illawarra-based brother, Robby Page, was her support off camera.

The soul singing mamma will reappear for a Battle Round against another contestant in her team, after the blind auditions cease in a few weeks' time. Ms Page is hopeful of cementing her spot on the iconic talent quest, but if it doesn't work out she is confident she will continue performing and release an album of her own.

The ultimate winner of the show will receive $100,000 cash, a new car and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.
