Bulli greyhound racing will receive a boon from this week with the club's move to the premier Friday night timeslot.
The northern Illawarra club has held race meetings on a Wednesday night for the bulk of its recent history but will replace Wentworth Park in the slot from this month.
"It is a great boost for the club," Bulli operations manager Darren Hull said.
"There is not a lot on in Wollongong on a Friday night, so it adds to the activities in the town. I am looking forward to it.
"It is a big move. We have been on Wednesday night for years and years and now we get our chance in the prime slot of Friday nights."
The club had previously held the heats and final to the $40,000 Bulli Gold Cup (472m) on Friday night and also raced briefly on Monday nights.
The new spot will almost certainly increase turnover.
"Punters will be betting into bigger pools which is a bonus, too. You get value for your dollar that way," Hull said.
"We are expecting the turnover to be well up on Wednesday night, manly because you are in the timeslot."
Fields for Friday's debut meeting came out on Tuesday with a number exciting prospects on the 10-race card.
"The fields came out for this Friday, and I know it is only our first meeting, but the nominations were well-and-truly up on what they normally are," Hull said.
"I am expecting to see a lot more people here than in the past because they can come on the Friday knowing they don't have to go to work the next day ... for a lot of them anyway.
"It will be more adaptable for the trainers and we are expecting a wider range of dogs."
The Friday timeslot will allow trainers to double-up on meetings on the South Coast, with Dapto racing 24-hours earlier.
Wentworth Park will continue on Saturday nights.
