From today, you will no longer have to sprint to the counter to order a McMuffin before the dreaded 10.30am cut-off; from today, you can get a pile of hash browns at 2pm; from today, hotcakes are available around the clock.
The 10.30am deadline, Australia’s most controversial lockout besides the 1.30am imposed in Kings Cross, has been cracked like an egg on the polished stainless steel counter top.
Just in time for the traditional university night at Wollongong pubs and clubs, the fabled Macca’s breakfast menu is now available at all times. Sometime in the early hours of Thursday morning, countless inebriated youths would have stumbled into Illawarra restaurants, their eyes wide and glowing as they realise the golden age of the Golden Arches they now live in.
“Macca’s restaurants across Wollongong and the Illawarra (excluding food court kiosks) will be serving breakfast favourites including the Bacon and Egg and Sausage and Egg McMuffins, Hashbrowns and Hotcakes 24 hours, seven days a week,” McDonald’s said in a press release.
‘‘McDonald’s All Day Breakfast is being launched off the back of consumer demand, with many people often missing the 10.30am breakfast cut off.’’
The Illawarra is the first region in the country to be granted the time-out from the breakfast cut-off. Next will be the Gold Coast.
