The local junior has spent the past five seasons at the Hawks but struggled for playing time throughout the 2014-15 campaign.
He will receive another crack at NBL level after he was announced as new coach Rob Beveridge’s latest addition.
He joins former club captain Oscar Forman, guard Rhys Martin and centre AJ Ogilvy in the Hawks’ growing roster for 2015-16 NBL season.
‘‘I’m really excited to be returning to the Hawks as I have so much respect for Bevo. Having played for him in juniors I know what he wants me to bring to the team. He appreciates my take-no-prisoners approach and my energy,’’ Demos said.
Demos has built a reputation as one of the NBL’s best defenders and has won the Hawks’ Best Defensive Player award on three occasions.
The intensity he shows at both ends of the floor made him a crucial edition for Beveridge.
“With the style of play that we will be playing, Tyson is going to be a perfect fit for our team,’’ Beveridge said.
“He is a hard-nosed defender and won’t take a backwards step against anyone, which will be a trademark for the Hawks this season."
