Illawarra can continue their charge towards the top of the table when they face Manly United on Sunday.
United and Macarthur Rams are the only two teams left above the Stingrays on the ladder following six consecutive wins in the women's top grade.
They face both clubs in the next two weeks, starting with Manly at Cromer Park this weekend.
Wins in both would ensure they keep the pressure on in the race for the title.
"It is similar to a couple of weeks ago when we knocked off the teams around us when we were sitting eighth," Stingrays coach Graham Shaw said.
"That's where we saw ourselves start this run that we have been on. Now we need to knock off the top teams.
"We beat Manly [during last week] and we play them this weekend. We will go into the game with confidence but it is a home game for them ... and it is quite a big field at Cromer Park. It should be a close contest but we are confident we can get a result."
The Stingrays defeated Manly United 3-1 in a catch-up game last Wednesday before coming from behind to beat Football NSW Institute 5-2 on Sunday.
Shaw hopes his side can put in a similarly polished performance on Sunday to the one his squad produced 10 days ago.
"We were clinical in front of goal last week. We probably didn't have too many more chances than the three goals we scored," he added.
"They are a top team and are up there for a reason but we took our chances and got ourselves in front.
"Then in the second half we endured a lot of the pressure. We probably had the less possession of the teams. The thing I got out of that is that we worked hard defensively and kept a clean sheet for half a game for the first time.
"It doesn't sound like much of an achievement but considering what we have done, it was something to build from.
"To play on the Sunday, then back it up on the Wednesday night against a tough team was great."
If the Stingrays can get a win, they will rise to within a single point of United on the competition ladder.
