I thought that Australians only needed a Medicare card to get health care but in an emergency I needed a credit card to pay for the ambulance.

I do not qualify for the $5485 that Mike Baird gets each week or the $2813 that state members get, or their weekly allowances of about $1155.
Should I carry, along with my organ donor card and Opal seniors card, a card to say ‘‘If unconscious please use public transport to get me to hospital’’ so that I can still eat and pay my rent from my $430.20 weekly single person aged pension when I get home?

I am glad you enabled Adrian Devlin to expose the scientific fraud of climate change (Mercury, June 30).
Could I join him in exposing through your columns other scientific frauds, but unlike Mr Devlin set out my evidence.
Three which come to mind are evolution (the Bible tells us everything was created in six days, starting according to Bishop Ussher on October 23, 4004BC), that the Earth goes round the Sun (just look at the sky and you will see that both the Sun and Moon go round the Earth), and that the earth is round (it is obviously flat except for mountains).
In light of the qualifications he showed in his letter, could I through your columns invite Mr Devlin to become the foundation president of the Wollongong Flat Earth Society.

Who cares if Tony Abbott is angry [with the ABC]? He trashed respect for prime ministers when he stood in front of ‘Juliar’ and ‘Ditch the Witch’ billboards referencing a female former PM.
Has precious Tony been angry about any media organisation that supports his views? Like all arrogant people, Tony’s opinion is the right (and only) view of anything!

Thank goodness. The haters have something else to cheer about with the latest round of so-called terrorist attacks.
They can be reassured that their beating of the war drum is having the desired result of recruiting more terrorists to the fray.
Now they can redouble their efforts in Iraq to bog us down in a never-ending downward spiral of war, blood, fear and death.
You can already hear the happy banter as they use the latest atrocities to justify their plans to put Australian soldiers into the fight against the so-called death cult. If they are really lucky they’ll be able to celebrate the first Australian flag-draped coffins returning from the front before the end of the year.
They can barely hide their delight as they front the cameras with stony faces and frighten all those red blooded, freedom loving Aussie heroes into giving away more and more of the rights and liberties they don’t even understand actually define that freedom.
Australia used to be a brave, proud and free nation. Who would have thought a few bearded nutters would destroy that powerful combination? The terrorists continue to win.

What a raw deal Wollongong Dragons fans get from the NRL. We finally get given another game this weekend but are robbed of seeing the best players because of State of Origin. What a rip-off.
