Little Joe's co-owner Amanda Kowalkczyk was forced to throw out $2000 worth of rotting food after power to the bar and restaurant was mysteriously switched off.
After hours spent on the phone to rectify the situation, Ms Kowalkczyk was informed AGL had directed Endeavour Energy to switch off the power to the venue, despite it being up to date on bills.
"AGL Energy Limited (AGL) believes the customer inadvertently signed up to the wrong meter and was disconnected due to non-payment of an outstanding account relating to the correct meter," a spokeswoman said in a statement on Friday.
Eight letters were sent to the address connected to the "correct" meter between March and June, requesting the recipient call AGL and warning of pending disconnection, the spokeswoman said.
"It is unfortunate that this mix-up has occurred."
AGL has now provided Ms Kowalkczyk with compensation claim forms.
Little Joe's missed out on a night's trade because of the power cut and was forced to throw out perishable goods.
