A Warilla man has been charged for possessing a loaded, homemade gun, after police found him hiding in the linen cupboard of an Albert Street home overnight.

Just after midnight on Saturday, officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended a the home seeking a man on outstanding warrants.
They located the 25-year-old inside, hiding in the linen cabinet.
During a search of the man’s belongings, police seized what is a believed to be a homemade .22-calibre pistol, along with associated ammunition. The weapon was loaded.
Police arrested the man and took him to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
He was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without holding a licence.
He was also charged in relation to the outstanding warrant, and was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
