It was freezing cold, with an icy wind coming off the snow, but nothing could dilute the pure joy of the children in the new playground in Stuart Park. Every single child, parent and grandparent had smiles on their faces, as slides were slid and flying foxes gave an adventurous ride to all ages.

It really has something for everyone, with seating and barbecues for when it warms up. The only thing that will be an issue is how crowded it will be on a sunny summer’s day! We will need more fabulous parks in less popular spots, for the locals as the tourists will claim this one!
Money well spent, as children’s happiness does not have a price tag.

Leave poor Bronwyn Bishop alone. I don’t understand why all these people out there are criticising Ms Bishop.
She is keeping people employed and the economy moving. Think about the poor helicopter pilots, if not for Ms Bishop they could be out of work.
Her trip to Europe was the same. Think about the airlines and the hotels that she used. She created employment.
Next thing you know you’ll be telling me that Tony Abbott doesn’t have a clue what’s going on. People, really!

Listening to an interview on the ABC with Mathias Cormann, it showed me how politicians on both sides of the political spectrum view the public.
When asked about Bronwyn Bishop’s helicopter ride he replied that the government had more things to worry about like the budget and national security than talking about Ms Bishop’s $5000 helicopter ride at public expense. I am sure that the pensioners of this country would like the same amount of money to spend on utility bills to just survive in the present climate of this country.
He is no different than Bill Shorten going to the union inquiry in a Commonwealth car with a big smile on his face also at public expense.
The sooner the so-called leaders of this country realise that the people of this country have had a gutful of their thinking that they don’t have to answer to anyone but themselves, and govern for the people of this country, the better the country will be for everyone.

On Thursday night my husband and I attended the Woonona High School production of The Wiz. Wow what a great show and very entertaining, the staff, students and volunteers who were involved are to be congratulated.
We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the enthusiasm from the audience showed that everyone had a wonderful time. Well done to you all.

I was interested in your article re the [police] weapons find but somewhat disgusted by the ignorance displayed by calling one item a ‘‘threshing blade taped to an axe handle’’.
It’s nothing of the sort. It’s a common farm tool called a brush hook. There is also a lighter version with the blade shaped like a reaping hook, but your photo shows the heavier version.
If you had taken time to look at the item, you would see the blade is bolted via metal clamps to the handle, because it’s designed that way, and not taped to it. The tape is to hold a possibly split handle together.
