The Illawarra Academy of Sport is calling for athlete nominations for 2016 Sports Scholarships.
The IAS welcomes nominations for the following sports program scholarships; cycling, golf, lawn bowls, hockey, netball, rugby union, triathlon as well as non-sport specific programs; Athlete Scholarship Program and Athlete with a Disability Program.
The Illawarra has a rich history in developing and elevating athletes to higher representative honours, with the Academy a significant vehicle in the process.
The academy has produced 11 Olympians (13 medals), 17 Commonwealth Games representatives (25 medals), 11 world champions and 69 senior national team representatives during the past three decades.

IAS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS
The academy, with the support of Southern Phone, hosted a 30th anniversary cocktail function on July 3 at Novotel Wollongong Northbeach.
Among the distinguished guests were Member for Kiama and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier - Illawarra and South Coast, Gareth Ward, Member for Keira, Ryan Park, Southern Phone managing director, Mark Warren, Wollongong Lord Mayor, Gordon Bradbery, and Wingecarribee Mayor, Duncan Gair, IAS Life Members John O'Dwyer and Brian Weir , renowned coaches Margaret Corbett, Ron McKeon and Bruce Jones, the academy's first cricket coach.
Joining them were some notable graduates including Shaun Timmins, David and Emma McKeon, Brett Stibners, Leif Selby, Flynn Ogilvie, Jarrod Poort, Madeline Heiner, Jackson Law, David Riolo and Zoe Lynam (nee Uphill).

IAS GOLFERS PERFORM AT STATE TITLE
Two hundred and seventy junior golfers converged on the Illawarra region in the first week of the school holidays for the annual Subaru NSW Junior Golf Championships.
The IAS had eight scholarship athletes competing, with six taking home silverware.
Stef Hall was the best, shooting 301 across the four rounds to claim the Girls 15 years Cup Scratch Championships, NSW Country Girls Championship and the Girls Champion of Champions.
Dani Vasquez shot 311 to win the Cup Nett Champion. Cassidy Graham finished with 352 to claim the Girls 14 years Plate Scratch. Sarah Johnson finished with 338 to win the Girls 15 years Plate Nett.
Thomas Heaton continued his great year, shooting 307 to claim the Boys 13 years Cup Scratch title by nine shots and Jackson Hall shot 296 to claim the Scratch Championships for the Boys 14 years.
