The show titled lore has been curated by artistic director Stephen Page and features two new works choreographed by Frances Rings, Deborah Brown and Waangenga Blanco.
The trio have drawn from their own stories and experiences to create personal works, with themes of identity, inequality, climate change and sustainability.
Rings explores the challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities today in her piece Sheoak. The sheoak, also known as The Grandmother Tree, is a symbol of shelter, medicine and protection.
Complementing this piece is I.B.I.S, created jointly by Blanco and Brown, depicting the colourful island life in their home, the Torres Strait Islands.
Bangarra's production of lore will be staged at Illawarra Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, July 23, at 6.30pm; Friday, July 24, at 8pm; and Saturday, July 25, at 8pm. Tickets: adults $60-$65, under 30s $45. Seemerrigong.com.au.
