Sydney Roosters secured their sixth successive NRL win, beating Wests Tigers 33-8 at ANZ Stadium on Friday night, while the Brisbane Broncos maintained their top position with a 34-0 win over Gold Coast.

The Tigers' stout defence coupled with poor handling from the Roosters kept the home side in the contest at halftime 8-4, before the Tricolours clicked into gear in the second half.

The visitors scored three-tries-to-one in 20 minutes after the break through Brendan Elliot, Sam Moa and James Maloney to move the score to 26-8 and put the result beyond doubt.

The win keeps the Roosters sitting comfortably in the top four with six rounds of the regular season remaining, while the Tigers remain rooted to the foot of the NRL ladder.

Rival custodians Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and James Tedesco were the best for their respective sides, with Maloney coming into his own for the Roosters after the break following a slow first half in front of 10,186 fans.

Daniel Tupou opened the scoring for the Roosters in the 14th minute following an early penalty goal from Maloney, with Tedesco sprinting over for the Tigers' reply in the 26th minute.

But with both sides struggling to complete their sets, that was the way things remained until halftime.

The Roosters forwards gained the ascendancy after the break with Siosiua Taukeiaho helping to take his side forward. Curtis Sironen tried hard for the Tigers.

A 71st minute Maloney field goal stretched the Roosters lead before Elliot, who was playing on the right wing for Shaun Kenny-Dowall, crossed for his second try just before fulltime.

A Pat Richards try in the 59th minute was the only time the Tigers troubled the scorers after the break.

Chris Lawrence limped off in the second minute for the Tigers with an ankle injury and didn't return.

Martin Taupau was put on report and sinbinned with four minutes to play for striking Maloney.

Meanwhile, Brisbane's winning streak is up to eight matches after a comprehensive 34-0 victory over rivals Gold Coast on Friday.

The Broncos ran in six unanswered tries to condemn the Titans to a fifth-straight loss and closer to a second wooden spoon in five years.

The Titans, who forced captain Nate Myles to start from the bench, began the game brightly.

But for all their application, the visitors couldn’t turn it into points and the Broncos quickly found their feet.

Consecutive penalties allowed Brisbane to get good field position before Corey Parker found his way through the Titans’ defence to open the scoring after 16 minutes.

Myles eventually entered the game after 20 minutes but his first contribution led to the Broncos second try.

A penalty for a strip by Myles again gave the Broncos extra territory and Darius Boyd sliced through some shoddy defence to extend the lead.

Halfback Ben Hunt then brought the moment of the half when he dummied and burst through the Titans’ line, stepping and sprinting 40 metres to put the Broncos three tries clear.

Gold Coast started the second half strongly again but when Kane Elgey had to be taken from the field following a late tackle by Adam Blair, things fell apart once more.

Within minutes of Elgey’s departure, a pass by Broncos’ five-eighth Anthony Milford which had more than a suspicion of being forward allowed Jarrod Wallace to storm over.

Things just got worse for the Titans from there as first Kodi Nikorima and then Alex Glenn, off another great pass from Milford, rounded out the win.

Broncos prop Blair was placed on report for the tackle on Elgey while Titans fullback Josh Hoffman was also placed on report for high contact on Broncos centre Jordan Kahu.
