The arrival of the first Sage in NSW and the East Coast is part of SilverNeedle Hospitality's national expansion.
SilverNeedle Hospitality (SNH) is a hospitality investment, management and development company with a focus on hotels and resorts catering for the professional and leisure needs of the business traveller.
It operates around 60 managed and licensed properties.
The name change to Sage Hotel Wollongong coincides with a refit.
There are still 168 rooms and 13 function spaces that can cater to more than 400 guests.
There is also complimentary Wi-Fi in each room.
SilverNeedle Hospitality Hotel Division's Sean Flynn said staff training was paramount to ensure everyone delivered on Sage's service promise because it wanted everyone to feel part of a special community that was like a home away from home.
"Sage Hotel Wollongong is well-poised to meet the demands for contemporary 4-star accommodation sought by both the corporate market, as well as leisure guests and families," Mr Flynn said.
Sage Hotel Wollongong general manager Paul Wilsher said it was great for his team.
"SNH's decision to launch the brand here is testament to the potential this city has to offer," he said.
The former Grand Chifley Adelaide was the first property in SNH's portfolio to be rebranded to Sage Hotels in 2015 and the next one will be in Perth.
