The $329 million project will provide 7.5 kilometres of four-lane highway from Mt Pleasant to Toolijooa Road.
On Monday, Kiama MP Gareth Ward said the final stages of work were now under way, with a view to opening all lanes by late August.
Night roadworks through to Thursday will lay the groundwork for line marking.
"One lane will be open in each direction just north of Belinda Street to Toolijooa Road until all lanes open in late August, weather permitting," Mr Ward said.
"From July 30, northbound motorists will be able to access Belinda Street and Willowvale Road via the new off-ramp south of Willowvale Road.
"Motorists will also be able to access the Princes Highway from the new Belinda Street northbound on-ramp from July 30."
Signs and guardrails will be installed and landscaping work carried out before the highway opens but the final touches are still several months away.
"Work to apply the final road surface will be carried out later in the year during warmer weather to ensure the surface is able to form most effectively," Mr Ward said.
