So it may be some relief to park users that the council has recently unveiled new concept designs to upgrade the amenities block by building a modern new facility about 20 metres from the existing block.
However, they will unfortunately have to hold on until the end of next year for it to be built.
The new amenities block will include four female toilets, two male toilets and a urinal, as well as one unisex accessible toilet.
As part of the council’s commitment to environmentally sustainable practices, a rainwater tank will provide the water flushing the toilets.
According to plans there will also be a series of stainless steel showers and foot washers for sandy beachgoers outside the building, and extra disabled parking bays incorporated into the design.
The community is invited to lodge their feedback on these plans through the council’s website by August 19.
Once the design is finalised, the council plans to call for tenders to construct the building, and then start the works during May and June of next year.
Construction will take about six months.
