The Illawarra Academy of Sport Netball squad capped off a great 2015 season coming away from the recent nib Games tournament in Mayfield with impressive performances and the fresh recognition of the depth that the new athletes from the region had to offer.
The age being lowered for the first time this season has proved interesting with athletes being exposed to new application of skills, and the dynamics of the team also being refreshed.
IAS Team 1 completed the tournament fifth of 10 with 6 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, while Team 2 finished seventh of 12 with 4 wins and 5 losses. The memorable matches for Team 1 were against Sydney Netball Academy, Hunter and South West Sydney, while Team 2 had strong displays against Far West, Northern Inland, Serna and Hunter. These performances are a testament to all staff involved with the Netball Program, plus the dedication of the athletes.
Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic achievement.

O'NEILL JUMPS INTO STATE TEAM
Individual athlete Lauren O'Neill took both her horses to the NSW Equestrian Interschool Championships at Horsley Park last weekend.
She had three classes on each of them, with Sam jumping in the 1.10-metre classes consistently but without placing in a tough competition.
Hayden was the star. Friday's conditions were atrocious but, with a huge improvement in the conditions on Saturday, Hayden and Lauren were fourth in the 1mtr AM5 class, and fifth in the A2 class on Sunday out of 60 riders.
In contention for the NSW Show Jumping Team for the National Championships for the second year running, Lauren now heads to the Interschool Clinic.
