Illawarra was in the elite championship division in all four age divisions - 12 years, 13 years, 14 years and 15 years - and had an excellent carnival.
The Illawarra 12 years team were making their debut at the biggest netball event of the year and finished a strong fifth, with the 13 years third overall, the Illawarra 14s in 20th and the 15s a fine sixth.
The Illawarra 12s won 12 games, plus had two draws on the first day, and five losses overall to achieve their top-five finish.
The team was only 10th after day one but won six of seven games on day two to improve to fifth and maintained that position on day three.
A highlight of the weekend was forming new friendships with Liverpool and Campbelltown age groups, with all the girls getting together in a great display of sportsmanship.
The Illawarra 13 years finished an excellent third in the state - just two points behind runners-up Wyong District.
The coaching staff remarked how the team played every game with passion and showed tremendous sportsmanship and team camaraderie.
The team lived up to their expectations and every player fulfilled their role to finish as a top-three team in NSW.
The Illawarra 14s also gave their best, with the coaching staff proud of the improvement throughout the season.
All team members played with spirit against the best teams in the state.
The Illawarra 15s team continued to improve on their performances from previous years and can be well pleased to finish the State Age Championships with their best result of sixth.
The girls can now strive for selection in the Netball NSW Talented Athlete Program, with the full support of their Illawarra coaches.
The 47th annual Netball NSW State Age Championships were played over three days and are the pinnacle of junior netball in NSW.
The championships featured more than 3500 junior netballers from 294 teams representing 83 associations.
Baulkham Hills Shire hosted the blue-ribbon championship division and was assisted by Eastwood Ryde (division 2), Penrith (division 3) and Hawkesbury City in division 4.
More than 5000 matches were played across the four divisions.
Wyong District won the elite 12 years championship division, with Baulkham Hills champions in the 13s, while Sutherland took out the 14s and Manly Warringah the 15s title.
Kiama Netball Association's 14 years team finished third in their division, while Shoalhaven 14 years team were fourth in their best finish of their three teams.
Ulladulla association also fielded three teams with their 15s team finishing eighth in their division.
